I don't think we should uh see this as
as a huge surprise. Uh he has been at
the White House before I think last back
in February. Uh and that too uh was in
part at least a discussion about Gaza.
It is clear uh that Tony Blair and his
institute the Tony Blair Institute uh
believe that that they uh can provide uh
some expertise, some assistance uh in
working out what the the day after plan
for Gaza uh will be. Remember Tony Blair
uh was former once the the Middle East
envoy when when the so-called quartet uh
was uh was formed. Uh he spent many many
months in Jerusalem living in the
American Colony Hotel trying to uh to
formulate a plan back then uh for what
would be a two-state solution uh that
has never come to pass. So he clearly
has a background uh and a deep knowledge
of the region uh and he believes that he
can provide some input. Now, now this
meeting that Steve Wickoff, Trump's
Middle East envoy, uh announced earlier
on today is, we understand, and it's
it's not an open meeting. I'm not sure
we're going to get see any pictures
necessarily from it. Uh but it is a
meeting uh which is designed to look at
what happens the day after. Uh which is
all very well, but it's not entirely uh
logical to discuss the day after when
the day itself uh is still unresolved.
Um but it is nevertheless interesting
that Tony Blair is one of a number of
figures. Ron Durma uh the um senior
member of his of Netanyahu's cabinet is
also here and Jared Kushner of course
Donald Trump's son-in-law he too we
understand is at this meeting to work
out what happens the day after the
rebuilding of Gaza.
